Developmental editing focuses on the overarching story elements such as plot and character arcs, point of view, voice, timeline, and pacing. Along with identifying any developmental issues, this service provides suggestions for how to address each issue throughout the manuscript.

• Developmental Edit Letter (8-12 pages) with a list of developmental issues. Includes examples from your manuscript and suggestions for how to address each issue.

• Complete manuscript in Word format with queries and comments tracked throughout where developmental issues were identified. Comments will offer detailed suggestions for addressing identified issues.

Line Editing

Line editing enhances the grammar and syntax of the manuscript at the line level. It ensures flow between sentences and paragraphs, and maintains author voice and style throughout.

• Complete manuscript in Word with all corrections tracked and queries (comments) in the margins to note inconsistencies of voice and offer suggestions for phrasing and flow.

• One page letter describing overall impressions of flow, voice, and style along with any overarching issues noticed throughout the manuscript.

Copy Editing 

Copy editing corrects errors at the sentence level, including grammar and syntax. I may also offer suggested edits for clunky or confusing phrasing.

Proofreading ensures the manuscript is error free.​ I use track changes to correct errors in spelling and punctuation in addition to typos and minor formatting issues.
